about conditions

The mission of DOST is to reach both the unfortunate children and the elderly of the impoverished nation of Crimea...

DOST was founded on May 13, 1996 in order to touch one of the world's most underprivileged counties - Kirim, or Crimea. Our main focus is to reach and help both the unfortunate children and the elderly of this impoverished nation. The children and elderly are faced with hunger, poverty, lack of health care and proper shelter. In response, DOST Kirim (which means friend of Crimea) organizes food and clothing drives, fundraisers, and consistent medical supply mailings.

Many people are not aware of the history of the Crimean Tatars, let alone its geographic location. The Crimean Tatar people have remained strong through many socio-political obstacles for decades. They are still struggling for their rights as human beings in their own homeland. Some call what Crimean Tatars experienced the Silent Holocaust, in which 40% of the population was destroyed and the rest brutally deported to Siberia or the drought ridden land of Ozbekistan.

But still, the Crimean Tatars remained strong, and were finally admitted back into their homeland after decades of suffering. Sadly, the present living conditions of these Crimean Tatars are unbearable. DOST has dedicated itself in helping the Crimean Tatars and we hope that you will too.
